Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients:
Ø 1 cup (2 sticks or 226 grams) unsalted butter, softened
Ø 1 cup (200 grams) granulated sugar
Ø 1 cup (220 grams) packed brown sugar
Ø 2 large eggs
Ø 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Ø 3 cups (375 grams) all-purpose flour
Ø 1 teaspoon baking soda
Ø 1/2 teaspoon salt
Ø 2 cups (about 340 grams) chocolate chips
Ø Optional: 1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
Instructions:
v Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
v In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
v Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
v In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
v Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
v Fold in the chocolate chips (and nuts if desired) until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
v Drop rounded tablespoons or use a cookie scoop to portion out the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart to allow for spreading.
v Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 9-11 minutes or until the edges are golden brown. The centers may appear slightly undercooked, but they will firm up as they cool.
v Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the cookies cool on the sheet for about 5 minutes.
